Neighbors Being Human

Neighbors Being Human is the community mission of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Yaphank, NY. Our goal is to provide support to those facing food insecurity and homelessness and to ultimately help lift people out of poverty. Please read their stories here.

We are funded both by a grant from the Episcopal Ministries of Long Island and support from private citizens like you.

We reach the community in two ways:

  • Food Pantry and Clothing/Household Items Pantry:
Located on the grounds of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church (see map and operating hours below).

  • Blessing Boxes:
These mini-pantries are regularly stocked with food items and basic necessities which are available 24 hours a day.

Starting in December, we will limit the use of the clothing pantry to 5 items per family.

Here is who we help:

Most of our visitors come from within the Longwood and William Floyd School Districts while others come from all over Suffolk County, NY. March 2021 marked the one year anniversary of the Neighbors Being Human food pantry. In the last 12 months we had about 900 visits to our pantry. Behind each visit is an average family of 5 people.
